Designation Hitter is a browser-based baseball experience that removes the controller, keyboard and mouse, and just puts you in the box. By fusing your smartphone’s internal sensors with real-time webcam posture tracking, your actual swing determines the hit.

Step into Extreme Mode to experience true "Self-Pitching." Record your own real-world pitching mechanics, generate an Animation Code, and face off against your own ghost.

ATTENTION: Use a firm two-handed grip. A wrist strap is highly recommended. Ensure you have 5ft of clearance. Play at your own risk!

Getting into the game takes less than 60 seconds. No app stores, no installs - just the browser.

1. Setup Your Screen (Laptop/Desktop)

  • Open the Game Link on your computer.
  • Grant Webcam Permissions when prompted.
  • Position yourself about 5–7 feet back so the camera can see your full upper body. You'll see a skeletal overlay confirming the AI has "locked on" to your stance.

2. Connect Your Bat (Smartphone)

  • Open the Controller Link on your phone.
  • Keep your phone upright and follow the on-screen calibration.
  • Important: Once synced, hold your phone securely with both hands (like a real baseball bat).

3. Step Into the Box

  • Watch the pitcher. When the ball enters the hitting zone, swing!
  • The game calculates your swing speed, angle, and timing based on your phone's gyroscope and accelerometer data.

<In Development> Extreme Mode: Be the Pitcher & The Hitter

This is the "Secret Sauce" of Designation Hitter. You can actually record your own physical pitching motion and import it as an opponent.

  1. Go to the Motion Cap Page: Connect your phone as the "bat" first.
  2. Record Your Motion: Tap Start Next Pitch. You have a 3–4 second window to perform your wind-up and delivery.
  3. Capture the Code: After you tap Stop Recording, a unique Animation Code (a serialized string of your motion data) will appear.
  4. Import to Game: Copy that code, head to Extreme Mode in the main game, and paste it.
  5. The Challenge: The game will now render an avatar performing your exact movements. Can you hit your own curveball?

The Tech Stack

  • Computer Vision: Real-time human pose estimation via TensorFlow.js.
  • Sensor Fusion: High-frequency polling of Mobile IMU data (Alpha/Beta/Gamma orientation).
  • Low-Latency P2P: WebRTC (Peer.js) creates a direct data channel between your devices, bypassing server lag for sub-10ms input response.
  • Serialization: Custom logic to compress 30fps motion data into shareable "Animation Codes."
